THE ARTIST

Fariba Alam was born in Lincoln, Massachusetts in 1975. After graduating from Columbia University with a B.A. in Middle Eastern and Asian Languages and Cultures (MEALAC), Ms. Alam spent one year in Bangladesh on a Fulbright Fellowship (1998-1999) for Photography. Her photography has been shown in New York at The Museum of Natural History's Celebrating India: Rebirth of a Nation exhibit, The Joseph Papp Public Theatre, Paisley Gallery, and Gallery 678 and has appeared in Asian Journal, Sangam, Time Out New York, the Grameen Trust Annual Report and on Polygram records. Additionally, she has been an active member of the South Asian Women's Creative Collective (SAWCC) since 1997, and is an elected board member for 2000-2001.
