Aids in Asia

AIDS in Asia – Background, Activities, and Conferences

Background

The Asia Society AIDS in Asia Initiative is funded by a three-year grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. AIDS in Asia was launched October 14, 2003 with a satellite conference between New York City and New Delhi on India’s new leadership on HIV/AIDS. AIDS in Asia works in close collaboration with the Center for Strategic & International Studies, Global Business Coalition for HIV/AIDS (GBC), and the Asian Business Coalition, and other partners to develop a global constituency and leadership base on this important issue. The AIDS in Asia Initiative is located in Asia Society’s Business and Policy division.

Activities and Conferences

Panel discussions, lectures, policy briefings and film screenings for the Asia Society audiences, occurring on a near monthly basis, provide the framework for the AIDS in Asia network at the Asia Society. AIDS in Asia Forums are held at the New York headquarters, as well as at the Asia Society’s offices in Washington, D.C., San Francisco, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Melbourne.
